As an avid cook and food lover, I am always looking for delicious and fun recipes to try. However, one issue that I find a lot is too many stories about a recipe and not enough actual recipe. I heard a joke once that you could confess to a murder in the story before a recipe and never be caught. The stories tend to be very long-winded. But this is not the case with Chef Joshua Weissman. His entertaining cooking videos are straight to the point and very easy to follow along with. Through his use of humor, action shots, and mouth-watering b-roll, Weissman teaches you how to prepare and cook dishes that will leave you wanting more.
I found Chef Weissman while trying to develop the perfect macaron recipe a couple of years ago. I’ve used his content to learn how to make gyros, pita, ziti, chow mien, and Twix bars, to name a few. His charismatic personality and witty, (although occasionally obscene), jokes hook a viewer into watching more of his videos. He has also used his channel to boost the success of his two cookbooks, An Unapologetic Cookbook, and Texture Over Taste, the first of which sold more than 58,000 copies and was #1 on the category list. Using his sense of humor to make the lessons stick, Weissman has taught others and me many things about cooking.
There is another aspect of Weissman’s content that makes it appealing to a wide variety of viewers. His “But Better” series explores improving popular brands and foods from restaurants, in your own kitchen. The “But Cheaper” series shows how to cook expensive tasting or nutritious meals on a budget. “But Faster” attempts to make dishes in record time, including a video where Weissman makes a whole Thanksgiving dinner in just four hours! These unique ideas appeal to people with specific limitations, or just those who are curious how many times he can one-up Panda Express.
“There are a lot of things in life you can’t control, but the food you cook is one of the few things you can, and this gives you a real sense of power over a huge aspect of your life.” An Unapologetic Cookbook by Joshua Weissman. Joshua Weissman makes cooking an enjoyable and exciting process where you really connect with the food that you are preparing and eating. His work encourages people not to accept the status quo in the food world but to really understand what kind of work goes into making a delicious meal.
Overall, I would definitely recommend Joshua Weissman if you are looking to learn how to cook easy, but tasty meals, or just if you want to watch a grown man name his bread dough before he proofs it. His website is organized by types of food and series, so it’s a breeze to find something that’s to your liking. Joshua Weissman’s content style and delicious recipes will definitely leave you hungry for more!
